Merlefest, an annual traditional music festival featuring bluegrass, folk and Appalachian music from across the country, is a favorite for thousands in the area. The festival was founded by  Doc Watson, and named after his late son, Eddie Merle Watson. This year's lineup consists of 100 bands including The Avett Brothers, Sam Bush and more.
