Camel City Yoga (until recently Bikram Yoga of Winston Salem) is the only local studio to offer Bikram yoga or “hot” yoga as it is often called. Bikram is a type of hatha yoga that was designed by Bikram Choudhury. Bikram yoga is practiced in a room which is usually heated up to 105 degrees and classes last 90 minutes. Bikram Yoga of Winston Salem was started by Trudy Swenk in 2002. The studio is located in downtown Winston Salem. Note: Parking and the entrance are found at the rear of the building. Pricing varies depending on the package purchased. Their daily drop-in rate is $15 per class. Ten class pass is $120. Their monthly unlimited pass is $150.

The Breathing Room is a non-profit center for holistic wellness and expressive arts located in West End Millworks. Instructor Angela Gallagher has been practicing and studying yoga for over 27 years in London, India, Australia, and the U.S. In London, she studied for 2 1/2 years at the Active Birth Center. She is certified with the International Sivananda Yoga Vendanta Center, India. Classes, with the exception of Yoga for Cancer Patients, are held at Forsyth Medical Center at the Maya Angelou Center for Women’s Health on the 1st floor in Community Room 2. Note: Parking validated in class. Daily drop-in rate is $12; package rates vary from 4 classes for $40 and up.

On Mondays at 9am, you’ll find a Community Yoga class taught by Missy Sullivan at the sacred space in Kindred Spirits. In Community Yoga, you pay what you’re able – usually $5-$10 for the class.

Yoga Dogz Hatha Yoga is a hot yoga studio following the Barkan Method, offering three levels of experience, including Classic Hot Flow (Level 1), and Vinyasa Hot Flow (Levels 2 and 3). Classes are beginner- and injury-friendly. Yoga Dogz is currently running an introductory special of 31 days for $31.
