Camel City Yoga

Camel City Yoga (until recently Bikram Yoga of Winston Salem) is the only local studio to offer Bikram yoga or “hot” yoga as it is often called. Bikram is a type of hatha yoga that was designed by Bikram Choudhury. Bikram yoga is practiced in a room which is usually heated up to 105 degrees and classes last 90 minutes. Bikram Yoga of Winston Salem was started by Trudy Swenk in 2002. The studio is located in downtown Winston Salem. Note: Parking and the entrance are found at the rear of the building. Pricing varies depending on the package purchased. Their daily drop-in rate is $15 per class. Ten class pass is $120. Their monthly unlimited pass is $150.

The Breathing Room is a non-profit center for holistic wellness and expressive arts located in West End Millworks. Classes include: Hatha Yoga, Voice, Acting, Reiki, Partner Massage, Dance, Writing, Kirtan; as well as workshops in Chakra-Based Color Healing, Family-Centered Wellness, Songwriting, Personal Ecology, Alexander Technique; and Individual Sessions of Massage, Reiki, Counseling, Life-Coaching, Nutrition Counseling, Belly Casting, and Wellness Inventory.

Gold’s Gym has a serene mind/body studio and offers a variety of morning and evening classes in yoga and pilates. Community yoga classes and workshops are also offered. According to program coordinator, Darlene Pruitt, your first class is free!
North Joy Yoga

Classes include traditional yoga, pregnancy yoga, and Mommy & Baby Yoga. Instructor Angela Gallagher has been practicing and studying yoga for over 27 years in London, India, Australia, and the U.S. In London, she studied for 2 1/2 years at the Active Birth Center. She is certified with the International Sivananda Yoga Vendanta Center, India. Classes, with the exception of Yoga for Cancer Patients, are held at Forsyth Medical Center at the Maya Angelou Center for Women’s Health on the 1st floor in Community Room 2. Note: Parking validated in class. Daily drop-in rate is $12; package rates vary from 4 classes for $40 and up.

Located in Winston-Salem’s Downtown Arts District, this new studio offers yoga, pilates and barre classes, as well as a boutique with a selection of yoga wear and gear. As of this posting, a new student special of two-weeks unlimited classes is $30.

On Mondays at 9am, you’ll find a Community Yoga class taught by Missy Sullivan at the sacred space in Kindred Spirits. In Community Yoga, you pay what you’re able – usually $5-$10 for the class.

Yoga classes include Beginner, Back Care, Chair Yoga, Gentle, Flow 1, 2, 3 & 4, All Levels, Restorative, Yoga Wall, and Aging Gracefully with Yoga. Teacher training workshops and independent study are also offered at Sunrise Yoga. Owner Valerie Kiser, E-RYT 500 & Certified Yoga Therapist has been teaching yoga since 1999. Drop-in rate is $16 per class. Class packages start at 6 classes for $78 and up. Sunrise Yoga offers a free yoga class once a month. Winner of 2013 Readers Choice Award for Yoga studios.

At the corner of Reynolda Road and Northwest Boulevard (next to Theatre Alliance), Village Yoga offers such classes as Gentle Flow, Moderate/All Level Flow, Power Flow, Vigorous Vinyasa Flow, Heated Ashtanga Flow, Yoga Alignment and Meditation. New student special = 2 classes for $20. Drop in fee per class is $15; 6 classes for $75; monthly unlimited class pass for $125.

Yoga Dogz Hatha Yoga is a hot yoga studio following the Barkan Method, offering three levels of experience, including Classic Hot Flow (Level 1), and Vinyasa Hot Flow (Levels 2 and 3). Classes are beginner- and injury-friendly. Yoga Dogz is currently running an introductory special of 31 days for $31.
