Triad Cultural Arts presents a Foodway Tour and tasting at the Historic Shotgun House in Happy Hill on August 16 and August 23. Local historian and TCA tour coordinator, Jordyn Jones will be onsite to provide historical talks on the history of local Black foodways here in Winston-Salem. Guests can expect to learn the ways food was grown, prepared, stored and served both as a nexus and was central to the Black activism and Civil Rights struggle. Talks begin at 12, 1 and 2pm. August 16 tasting is sweet potato biscuits with molasses, and August 23 tasting will include cornbread with pork cracklin and pickled okra. Admission includes tour and sampling. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth, children up to 5 years old are free. See here for tickets.
