It’s time to clean out the garage, attic, and basement! That old chair that you were going to reupholster, the broken skis, the mattress you replaced, and the basketball hoop no one plays with anymore. It is all going by the curb for Bulky Item Pick-Up! The air is full of excitement as everyone puts out their junk and goes to see what great junk everyone else put out! You know you do – that’s where you got the chair you were going to reupholster last year.
Designated Dates For Pick-Up
Residents have or will receive a card in the mail with designated dates for their pick-up. The items must be at the curb by 6 am on your first collection day. If you did not receive a card or misplaced it, you can go to Winston-Salem’s Bulky Items site to enter your address and find your schedule.
Bulky Item Pick-Up 2023 began in March and will continue through September 8th.
Items The City Can Collect
Items Not Acceptable For Collection
- Computer Equipment
- Yard Waste
- Building Material
- Car Parts
- Oil Drums
- Hazardous or Infectious Waste
If you mix non-collectible items with collectible items, none will be removed.
Bulky Items should not be placed on the curb more than 3 days in advance of your collection date. The weekend before your scheduled collection is the best time. The trucks will only come through your neighborhood once. They may come on your first day of collection or the last. Items placed at the curb after they come through will not be collected.
Bulky Item Collection is for single-family residences only, not businesses or apartments. If you live in a condo or townhouse, items may need to be placed in a central location for easier collection.
How To Dispose Of Bulky Items The Rest Of The Year
Residents can dispose of bulky items at the Hanes Mill Road Landfill throughout the year. Hours of Operation are Mon – Fri, 7 am – 3 pm and Sat 8 – noon. A landfill permit is required.
