Collection Guidelines

If you mix non-collectible items with collectible items, none will be removed.

Bulky Items should not be placed on the curb more than 3 days in advance of your collection date. The weekend before your scheduled collection is the best time. The trucks will only come through your neighborhood once. They may come on your first day of collection or the last. Items placed at the curb after they come through will not be collected.

Bulky Item Collection is for single-family residences only, not businesses or apartments. If you live in a condo or townhouse, items may need to be placed in a central location for easier collection.

How To Dispose Of Bulky Items The Rest Of The Year

Residents can dispose of bulky items at the Hanes Mill Road Landfill throughout the year. Hours of Operation are Mon – Fri, 7 am – 4:30 pm and Sat 8 am – noon. A landfill permit is required.

Kathy Solarino

I am originally from New Jersey but now call Winston-Salem home. I am blessed with 3 sons, their wives, and five grandchildren. My husband is deceased, but I gained his two sons, their wives, and four additional grandchildren. I fell in love with Winston-Salem because of the beautiful area, the arts, the music, and the people. It's a city with a heart and soul.
