Brunch is one of the most pleasant meals to enjoy on a Saturday or Sunday. Not many restaurants offer it, but we found some in Winston-Salem, and these are a few of our favorites. Most have mimosas and bloody marys available to purchase; some recommend reservations. Take a look and try these fantastic brunch restaurants.

In the heart of the Arts District of Downtown Winston-Salem, this favorite night spot also offers Saturday and Sunday brunch for the morning after, serving up the likes of shrimp & grits; crab cake benedict; portabello, prosciutto and goat cheese omelet. Limited outdoor seating. Vegetarian and gluten-free friendly.

This elegant restaurant found in the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in the historic RJ Reynolds building downtown blends traditional French brasserie fare with southern cooking. The Katharine offers brunch Saturday and Sunday 10am – 2pm.

Another “breakfast all day” restaurant, this family-friendly brunch spot near Thruway Shopping Center often has a wait. Midtown Café serves up classics: banana crunch pancakes, sweet potato pancakes, Belgian waffles, crepes and French toast along with great sandwiches and soups. Vast outdoor seating available in warmer months. (Sorry, no Bloody Marys or mimosas.)

This downtown gem serves up brunch Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm with a Southern flair. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but we especially love the tomato pie. Mozelle’s is a local favorite offering such delights as Mozelle’s Benedict with candied bacon, collards and chorizo gravy on a brioche bun with cheese grits or a grilled pimento cheese and bacon sandwich on sourdough with a cup of tomato bisque. Lovely outdoor dining available. Mimosas are served sometimes. Reservations recommended.

A sister restaurant of Midtown Café and Dessertery, River Birch Lodge restaurant offers Saturday and Sunday brunch with an atmosphere of “mountain casual dining” and a lovely patio. Menu includes items such as Eggs Benedict, Belgian waffles, and veggie frittata. Bloody Mary’s and mimosas available through their full bar. Gluten-free dishes, sliced bread, and buns are also available.

With two locations in Winston-Salem and lots of seating, this fully-featured menu never disappoints to have something for everyone. A variety of brunch cocktails are available, as well as wine, beer, and craft brews. The Hanes Mall (Griffith Rd) location is a great choice if you are dining with kids. Sunday Brunch is served 10am- 3pm, and brunch drink specials include $2 off Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, and brunch cocktails are available all day. They have a gluten-free menu.
